On February 22, 2022, Decentralized gave listeners a way into the world TheIssa had been building. Its third track, “Welcome to the Show,” made the invitation explicit. Years of sound, style, characters, tension, humor, and self-invention now had a place in a released catalog.

The same year carried an absence no release could resolve. His close friend Kyler went missing. There was no known outcome to name and no clean ending to grieve—only concern, unanswered questions, and the difficulty of remaining loyal to someone whose story had become uncertain.

Finishing an album and living with that uncertainty were not opposite sides of a victory. They were two realities he had to carry at once. The work could be completed and revisited while worry remained open. Its shape did not give him the right to impose an ending on Kyler’s story.

Decentralized crossed the boundary that preparation alone could not: part of the private world was now outside him. It was an offering, not proof of an audience’s lasting connection or an established live career. He could continue making work without waiting for life to resolve, so long as the work remained honest about what was still unknown.
